Mission Statement

It is the policy of Global Expertise in Outsourcing, Inc. [GEO] and Allen Correctional Center [ALC] to maintain a secure institutional environment that ensures the safety of the public, provides a safe working climate for employees, and offers humane and safe living conditions for inmates confined herein. To accomplish this, a highly organized system of interrelated policies, procedures, emergency plans, and systematic manpower practices are employed. No inmate or group of inmates will be given authority over other inmates, manage any institutional programs, or have any policy or procedures setting role in this facility.

ALC utilizes an aggressive classification procedure that incorporates a multifaceted process whereby individual inmates are assisted in correcting their anti-social behavior. The process spans reception, orientation, treatment planning and programming, progress assessment, reclassification, as well as preparation for release and reintegration into the community. Program staff provides a wide range of interdisciplinary services to the offender to include medical, psychiatric, psychological, social, religious, vocational, educational, and recreational programs and services within the context of the total correctional system. Another aspect of ALC's mission is to provide an effective classification program, which utilizes all of these modes of corrections, depending on each offender's needs.

GEO operates its facilities under the principle that all administrative and management decisions either directly or indirectly affect the security and treatment goals of the facility. In that context, facility staff serves as important and productive role models for inmates, conveying mainstream societal values to the inmate population. Throughout the course of the day, opportunities for interaction between staff and inmates provide a means to teach or reinforce appropriate inmate behavior, and employees are expected to interact with inmates in a manner consistent with the objectives of the facility.

Goals

Allen Correctional Center is established in accordance with applicable statues and regulations with the goal of ensuring public safety through the provision of professionally managed correctional services to confined offenders, pursuant to judgments of the state courts.

Allen Correctional Center, within available resources, offers the widest practical range of correctional services and institutionalization, which will best serve the needs of society and the individual inmate, and which will enhance the offender's ability to return to the community and live in a law-abiding manner. The facility will administer its programs in an equitable manner in the least restrictive environment consistent with public safety.
