The job of a Corrections Cadet is
to the provide the custody of inmates, to prevent escape or injury, and to
supervise their daily activities, such as work details, recreation and
visiting. New officers are routinely assigned shift, night, weekend
or holiday duty. Working conditions vary from a twelve-hour shift in
a tower or dormitory, to work outdoors supervising a group of inmates.
Qualifications for Corrections Cadet:
- 18 years of age
- US Citizen or meet standards of US
Naturalization and Immigration Service for employment
- No felony convictions
- No misdemeanor convictions of domestic
violence
- Able to carry firearms
- Not a candidate or hold a political
office
- Must pass a written exam, drug test,
and a physical
- Males 18 - 25 must register with
Selective Service
