Mission

The mission of the LSP K-9 Training Center is to provide basic, intermediate, advanced and maintenance training to canines and handlers.  It is dedicated to producing effective canine teams that will be highly skilled with the competency necessary to perform their duties with professionalism and integrity in any routine or emergency situation.  The K-9 Training Center will serve as a training resource for local and state law enforcement agencies and provide assistance upon request.

The K-9 Training Center is committed to providing the highest quality training and K-9 teams available and promoting effectiveness, efficiency and innovative concepts of training and utilization.

Goals and Objectives

Develop, implement and improve training programs which will maximize staff, inmate and public safety through the prevention of escapes, detection of drugs or other contraband and tactical response.

Evaluate all new technologies and training techniques and update equipment to provide a safe and secure environment for staff and inmates.

·

Promote employee confidence, knowledge and safety through an organized and disciplined training system.

·

Seek alternate sources of funding to obtain additional canines which can be trained and used to further the mission of the LSP K-9 program.

·

To further educational efforts and develop networking resources through participation in training seminars and competitions with other agencies with both narcotic detection canines and bloodhounds.
