JOB INFORMATION

The job of a Corrections Cadet is to provide custody of inmates to prevent escape or injury and to supervise without weapons daily activities, such as work details, recreation and visiting.  New officers are routinely assigned shift work, nights, weekends or holidays.  Working conditions vary from a twelve-hour shift in a tower, housing dormitory, or kitchen to outdoors supervising a group of inmates.  An application form can be obtained from the Corrections Services Employment page. 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR  A CORRECTIONS CADET

18 years of age

Able to obtain a valid driver's license within the first 6 months of employment

No Felony Convictions

bullet

No misdemeanor convictions of domestic violence

U.S. citizen or meet standards of U.S. Naturalization and Immigration Service for employment

bullet

Must PASS written examination, drug test, and physical exam

BENEFITS

  1. 4% merit increase each year
